Obituary:
Velma Jean Melton, age 61, of Millerton, OK, passed away January 9, 2010 at the Choctaw Co. Memorial Hospital in Hugo, OK.
She was born November 8, 1948 in Garvin, the daughter of Vester Rogers and Jean Sherman Rogers.
Velma was a lifetime resident of McCurtain County. She was a respiratory Therapist, and a member of the Valliant Church of God. She enjoyed cooking, fishing, visiting with friends and playing with her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, also by a son, Vance Melton
and a grandson, Auston Melton in 2003.
Velma leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Kenneth Melton of Millerton, OK; one daughter and husband, Rebecca aand Russell Phillips, of Hollycreek, OK; two brothers, Virgil and Davy Rogers, of Cunningham, Texas, Ernie and Joy Rogers, of Detroit, Texas' and three granddaughters, Bethany Phillips, Sabrina Melton of Idabel anad Kayla Prater.
