Obituary:
Myrrah L. Lewis, of Idabel, Oklahoma, passed from this life June 20, 2010 in
Texarkana, Texas at the age of 86 years, 6 months and 17 days. She was born
December 3, 1923 in the Shults Community, the daughter of Emmett Lewis and Mary Stanford Lewis.
Both parents preceded her in death. Her mother died when she was very young. Her father later married Maude Leonard who raised her as her own. After her father passed away Myrrah continued to live with Maude until her death.
She was a lifetime resident of McCurtain County and was employed by Public Service Company of Oklahoma, retiring after 35 years of service. Myrrah graduated from Gray High School and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Idabel. She was an avid bowler and a very dedicated and conscientious volunteer for the McCurtain Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, serving as a "Pink Lady" for many years. Myrrah was always there to serve when needed and enjoyed working at the hospital and giving assistance to thoes in need. She gave over 5300 hours of her time to the auxiliary.
She leaves to cherish her memory one aunt, Pat Leonard of Hugo, OK; several cousins, including; Walt Leonard of Los Angeles, CA; Pat Elmore of
Muskogee, OK; Patsy Ruth Lewis Elmore of Muskogee, OK; Bill V. Lambert of Idabel, OK; Joe Ed Leonard , Norman, OK; Marion Stanford Jones of Norman, OK; Thad Clay Jones of Perryton, TX; Billy John Jones of Eufaula, OK; John M McHenry, III of Cortez, CO, Steven C. McHenry of Cortez, CO; Martha Ann Martin Collier of Austin, TX and Patrick E. Smith of Independence, MO.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 22 at Norwood-Nation Funeral Home.
Services will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at the First Baptist Church, Idabel, OK with the Reverend Shawn Robertson officiating.
Interment to follow in Denison Cemetery.
