Sallie Lee Burris - age: 88
(July 31, 1922 to November 28, 2010 ) Resident of Broken Bow, Oklahoma Visitation Information: VISITATION WILL BE: 6:00 P.M. TO 7:00 P.M. FRIDAY, DECEMBER 3, 2010 NORWOOD-NATION CHAPEL IDABEL, OKLAHOMA Obituary: Sallie Lee Burris was born July 31, 1922 in Tom, Oklahoma to the late Henry and Ethel Williams. She attended school at Pleasant Grove school in Tom, Oklahoma. She was a faithful member of the New Dora Missionary Baptist Church where she joined at an early age and served until her health failed. She re-located to Broken Bow, Oklahoma and attended the Maple Springs Missionary Baptist Church in Idabel, Oklahoma where she served faithfully until she had to move to the Broken Bow Nursing Home. She met and married the late Deacon Jake Burris and to this union one daughter was born. She was a foster parent to many children. Sister Sallie Lee Burris was a very loving, caring and devoted person and loved Christ and her church. She was a member of the Missionary Society at New Dora and Maple Springs, as well the oldest member of both church, where she was given the title as the Mother Of The Church. She was also a member of the Eastern Star. She will be greatly missed. Sister Sallie Lee Burris departed this life on Sunday, November 28, 2010 in Broken Bow Nursing Home, Broken Bow, OK. She was preceded in death by one sister, Isabel Burris and two brothers, Roosevelt Williams and Dave Williams. Memories of her life will forever be remembered by; one daughter, Arnetter Morris, two grandchildren, Malegra Morris and Natorrie Morris; two great-grandchildren, Kayimah Morris and Aniyah Morris; two brothers, J.D. Williams of Tom, OK and John L. Williams of El Paso, Texas , one sister-in-law; Pat Williams of El Paso, Texas and many foster children, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to7:00 p.m., Friday, Dec. 3rd at Norwood-Nation Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 12:00 noon, Saturday, December 4th at the New Dora Missionary Baptist Church in Tom, Ok, with Reverend Winston R. Whitfield officiating. Interment will follow in St. Luke Cemetery, Tom. OK. |
