Obituary:
Hubert Leon Langley, age 65, passed away Saturday, February 5, 2011, at his home in Idabel, Oklahoma. He was born June 19,1945 in Dalark, Arkansas, the son of Louis and Laurine Langley.
Hubert was raised in the Dalark area and was a graduate of Sparkman High School. He was a member of the Reddie basketball team at Henderson State University where he earned the distinction of being an honorable mention All-American player. Later he graduated with a Master of Science in Education. He started his teaching career at Pine Bluff High School as a coach and teacher. During this time he married Sue Wright from Foreman, Arkansas, and moved to Strong, Arkansas, where he was head basketball coach for seven years. He then became the high school principal at Mountain Pine High School for four years where he and his family lived in Hot Springs. He then took the position of high school principal at Idabel High School for 19 years and made Idabel his home. He retired in 2000 from his educational career and then embarked on a career in the timber industry by developing Langley Tree Farm.

Hubert has a great love for the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing when not working at school or attending school activities. His entire life revolved around his wife and children. He was a very proud but humble father. His children's activities were always a priority in his life, and he loved watching and supporting them in all of their endeavors. Along with his children, his grandchildren were the endearing joys of his life.

Hubert was a Christian and a member of the Lynn Lane Church of Christ. While his greatest Christian qualities of humility, wisdom, and integrity were exemplified throughout his life, patience was his greatest virtue.

Hubert and Sue Wright were united in marriage on May 29, 1970, in Foreman, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his father Louis Langley and by his brother James W. Langley.

Hubert leaves to cherish his memory; his wife, Sue of the home; daughter, Courtney Mitchell and husband, Dr. Matt Mitchell of Ft. Worth, Texas;
son, Lon Langley and wife, Leigh of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; his mother, Laurine Langley of Arkadelphia, Ark.; his beloved grandchildren; Lauren Mitchell, Luke Mitchell, and Lane Mitchell of Ft. Worth, Texas; special cousin, Roy LaDon Preuett of Benton, Arkansas; brother-in-law, Lonnie Wright and wife, Linda of Foreman, Arkansas;
nieces, Dee Ann Belanger and husband, Barry of Foreman, Arkansas, Dana Wright of Foreman, Arkansas, Jill Drake of Pine Bluff, Arkansas; nephew, Gary Langley and wife, Sherry of Camden, Arkanasas; aunts, Evelyn Porter of Sparkman, Arkansas and Marie Caddy of Bismark, Arkansas; uncle, Thomas Presley of Dallas, Texas.

To Hubert's Loving Family, Hubert was/is a loving person. He was a dedicated father and husband. His family was very important to him. Hubert was also a dedicated educator and gave much to the Idabel School and to the lives of the students. He wanted what was best for all the students. He lived a good and honorable life and will be missed. Hubert was a good Christian man. I believe he is in heaven and that we will see him again. May you be comforted in knowing others care. May you feel our love and prayers for your comfort. May you be comforted by the Holy Spirit. God Bless You All.

Mr. Langley was the principal of IHS when I was in high school. I remember him as always being friendly, yet a fabulous role model for students. He is someone I think of when I remember people who influenced me growing up. I enjoyed working in the high school office when he was principal.

I was so sorry to hear of the death of Hubert. I went to school with Hubert at Sparkman High School, Sparkman, Arkansas; I was in the Class of 1961. I remember Hubert as being very quiet, nice, and a very good basketball player. My husband, Frank, and I, offer our prayers for you to be given strength in these days of sadness. God Bless.

Mr. Langley was a role model, leader and friend as the principal of IHS when I attended (class of 1991). He touched many lives during his time on earth. I am glad there will be no more suffering for him and I lift his wife and family up to God during this time of loss and pray they know the grace of God during this difficult time. God bless and rest in peach Mr. Langley.

Sue and family, I SHARE YOUR LOSS ALONG WITH SO MANY OTHERS. Hubert and I were good friends and buddies all through our twelve years in the Sparkman Schools. I am so glad that he and I had a nice phone chat just a few days ago. My thoughts are with all of you at this sad time.

Mr. Langley was a remarkable individual and leader. He was a wonderful principal and friend to us all at IHS, (class of 1991). The passion that Mr. Langley showed for education, learning, athletics, and people in general is second to none. I have been blessed to know Mr. Langley, Sue, Lon, and Courtney. The same passion that Mr. Langley and Sue showed towards education and others was demonstrated most in their love for their children. Even though my memories in high school revolve more with Mr. Langley and Courtney, other memories come from Southeastern with Lon playing football and Mr. Langley and Sue blazing every step of the way. I learned a lot about the Langley family during this time and I became very close to them especially every Saturday. During this time, I made the connection of Lonnie and Linda to this wonderful family, Leigh met Lon, and I kept tabs on Courtney’s new journeys in life. Although our paths have not crossed much in the past few years, the memories and love will always be there. I am sorry that John and I will not be able to be with you on this day, but please know that your family is truly loved and we know that Mr. Langley is in good company - in the presence of our Lord. I can certainly hear all the tall tales that Mr. Langley, Billy Ray, and Bob are telling today. May God give you strength in times that you are weak, and joy in each time a memory fills you mind, may you find comfort in knowing that there is no more suffering and our lives have been blessed by a true Christian man, Hubert Langley. Our thoughts and prayers go out to each and every one of you.
