Don Green, 70 of Idabel, passed away December 10, 2018. He was born November 16, 1948 at Idabel, the son of Thomas and Wanda Green. He was a graduate of Haworth High School and earned his bachelor’s degree at Oklahoma Christian University.
Don served in the United States Navy for two years and was honorably discharged in 1971. He married Joan Saunders, February 1, 1975 at the Redland Church of Christ. He was a valued employee of the Weyerhaeuser Paper Mill where he retired after forty-one years of employment.
An avid outdoorsman, Don enjoyed hunting and fishing. He enjoyed taking care of his cows and farming. He was quite the talker and never met a stranger. He loved telling stories and visiting with family and friends.
Don’s love for his family was evident and showed through his actions. He was proud of his grandkids and always had something special to share about them. He especially loved watching their basketball games.
Don taught Bible classes at the Redland Church of Christ, where he was a member since he was a young child. He was also a card-carrying member of the NRA.
Don is survived by his wife, Joan Green; son and daughter-in-law, Corey and Michelle Green of Idabel; daughter and son-in-law, Kayla and Brent McDaniel of Perkins, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Jaci, Brason, and Kalan McDaniel all of Perkins and Connor and Kennedi Green both of Idabel; sisters and brothers-in-law, Barbara Clampet of Belton, Texas, Debbie and Guy Bailey of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Sandy and Nickey Nichols of Readyville, Tennessee; sisters-in-law, Lorraine Bolen, Linda and Dave McKeand, Maureen and Dan Compos, Lillian and Mike Letson all of California; brothers-in-law, Reginald and Kathleen Saunders of Texas, Ronald and Tina Saunders of California and Robert Saunders of Canada; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of special friends whom he cared for deeply.
Don was preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law, Anthony Clampet; two nephews, Michael McKeand and Ransom Scott, mother-in-law, Catherine Saunders.
A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 15, 2018 at the Redland Church of Christ. Virgil Romine will officiate. Interment will follow in the Redland Cemetery with the United States Navy providing Military Honors.
Family will receive friends at the Clardy Funeral Service Chapel, Friday, December 14, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
