Sharon Garrett

August 13, 1942 ~ February 6, 2019 (age 76)

Sharon Garrett, 76 of Garvin, passed away February 6, 2019 at her home after a courageous battle with cancer.  She was born August 13, 1942 at Pleasant Hill, the daughter of James Alton and Jannie Mozelle Woodrum. She married Jimmy Garrett on June 18, 1963. She was a lifetime resident of the area.

A caring and selfless soul, Sharon was devoted to caring for others.  Even in her time of need and her times of struggles with cancer, she would always reach out and help someone else in their time of need.  She was good at giving advice, especially if you wanted the truth. She didn’t hold back what she was thinking.

In the early eighties, she was a member of the WBA women’s bowling association and was a league bowler.  In the early nineties, she and a friend owned and operated The Corner Cupboard Restaurant. Sharon was a phenomenal cook, to which no other could compare.

She loved gardening, mowing, card games, keeping her house spotless, watching the ID channel and most of all spending time with her dog Candy, friends and family.

Sharon leaves to cherish her memory husband of fifty-five years, Jimmy Garrett of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Jill and John Martin of Idabel; sons and daughters-in-law, James “Bo” and Cassy Garrett of Garvin, Josh and Melissa Garrett of Durant, Justin Garrett of Crystal Lake, Illinois; grandchildren, Michael Martin and wife Ashley of Junction City, Kansas, Ashton Martin of Norman, Emilee Martin of Idabel, Breanna Garrett of Durant and Taylor Garrett of Garvin; great-grandchildren, Kalia and Kinley Martin;  brother and sister-in-law, Philip and Alice Woodrum; close friends who she loved and considered family, Louise McMennamy, Jo Ann Columbus, Geraldine Garrison, Linda Strawn, Patsy Mixson, Myra Cotis, Raymond and Telisha Allen and their children Karrigen, Peyton and Raylee, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Donnie Merle Woodrum.

A celebration of life memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 9, 2019 at the First Baptist Church in Idabel with Bro. Jason Myers and Dr. Andy Bowman officiating.
